Kitebi SS Board of Governors rewards outstanding staff for September
The Board of Governors (BOG) of Kitebi Secondary School has rewarded outstanding members of staff for the month of September, recognising their dedication and contribution to the school’s academic, administrative and operational performance.
The awards, presented during the school’s Dedication Day in the presence of Rev. Francis Ssemuddu, the Parish Priest of St. Gyaviira Catholic Church Bunamway and the main celebrant of the day, recognised staff in four categories including class teachers, Heads of Department, support staff and senior managers.

In each category, the board identified the best performer, first runner-up and second runner-up, with recipients receiving cash prizes and a range of household items, including televisions, sound systems, gas cylinders, duvets, bedsheets and kitchenware. The gifts were selected according to the individual preferences of the awardees, making the recognition both a professional acknowledgement and a practical reward for their service.
Staff contribution to school development
The Board of Governors commended the awardees for their dedication, noting that their contribution was important in advancing the school’s development both academically and in other areas of its operations.
The board recognised that the progress of a school depends not only on the performance of learners but also on the commitment of the people responsible for teaching, supervising, managing and supporting the institution.

Class teachers play a central role in guiding learners, monitoring their progress and maintaining communication with parents, while Heads of Department coordinate academic programmes and support teachers in delivering the curriculum. Senior managers oversee the implementation of school policies and decisions, while support staff contribute to the environment and services necessary for the institution to function effectively.
By recognising staff across these categories, the board acknowledged the collective effort required to sustain the school’s operations and improve its performance.
Staff recognised across four categories
Among the class teachers, Ssekanjako Arafat emerged as the most outstanding staff member, followed by Nalinya Sawuyah and Napera Sawudah, who were named first and second runners-up, respectively.
In the Heads of Department category, Grace Nyakato was recognised as the best performer, while Prossy and Kifampo Muhammad took the first and second runner-up positions.

Among the support staff, Kato Daniel emerged as the most outstanding, followed by Nalwoga Mary and Nambula Harriet as first and second runners-up, respectively.
In the Senior Managers category, Mawanda Ismail was recognised as the most outstanding, with Bisaso Fred and Atuhaire Jackline named first and second runners-up, respectively.
The recognition covered different levels of the school’s workforce, reflecting the contribution of staff members whose responsibilities range from classroom instruction and departmental leadership to administration and the daily operations that support teaching and learning.

Fostering continued commitment
The presentation of cash prizes and household items provided a tangible expression of appreciation for the staff members’ efforts. The range of gifts, from electronics and sound systems to bedding, gas cylinders and kitchenware, allowed individual awardees to receive items suited to their needs and preferences.
Beyond the material value of the rewards, the awards provided an opportunity to acknowledge individual performance and encourage staff to maintain their commitment to their respective responsibilities.

Staff recognition can also help strengthen morale by making employees feel that their work is noticed and valued. In a school environment, where academic achievement depends on the combined efforts of teachers, administrators and support personnel, such appreciation can reinforce a shared responsibility for learners’ welfare and performance.
The awards formed part of the school’s wider recognition of the people contributing to its progress, with the Board of Governors emphasising the importance of staff dedication in advancing Kitebi SS academically and institutionally.
Through the monthly recognition programme, the school acknowledged the efforts of its employees while encouraging a continued commitment to excellence in service delivery and the development of the institution.
