Kitebi SS welcomes new Director of Studies as new term begins

On Monday 21st September, 2026, Kitebi Secondary School was graced with a new Director of Studies, Ms Atuhaire Jackline, who was formally introduced to learners and members of staff during the school’s opening assembly by the Headteacher, Adv. Haj Muhammed Kamulegeya.

Addressing the learners for the first time in her new role, she urged them to approach the new term with a positive attitude and a clear determination to achieve their academic and personal goals.

Ms Atuhaire encouraged learners to make proper use of their time, noting that effective time management is an important part of academic success.

“Keep time and focus on becoming achievers,” She said.

A term focused on achievement

The Director of Studies outlined key activities planned for the term and encouraged learners to familiarise themselves with the programme so that they can plan their time and participate fully in the various academic activities.

She emphasised that success requires more than simply attending lessons. Learners must develop a consistent approach to their studies, remain hardworking and maintain a positive attitude even when faced with academic challenges.

She encouraged them to avoid postponing academic work and instead make effective use of every available opportunity to improve their performance.

“Consistent effort, hard work, discipline and a positive attitude are important if you want to become an achiever,” she told the learners.

Message to the candidates

Whereas the time for candidates to sit for their final examination has approached, Ms Atuhaire challenged candidates to take greater responsibility for how they use their remaining time before the examinations. She urged them to create a balance between classroom learning, personal revision and other activities, while ensuring that academic work remains a priority. Candidates were further encouraged to avoid distractions and use each day productively.

She reminded them that success at the end of the academic year will depend on the effort they put into their preparation now.

For the continuing learners, Ms Atuhaire urged them to develop good study habits early rather than waiting until examinations are approaching.

Hostel remedial lessons to support learning

As part of the school’s academic support programme, the Director of Studies announced that the school would conduct hotel remedial lessons. She urged learners, particularly those who need additional academic support, to take the sessions seriously and attend them consistently.

The hostel remedial programme is intended to provide learners with additional opportunities to revise, seek clarification and strengthen areas where they may require more support beyond the regular classroom timetable. Learners were encouraged to treat the sessions as an important part of their academic programme rather than an optional activity.

The emphasis on remedial learning is part of the school’s wider effort to provide learners with additional support as they work towards improved academic outcomes.

Discipline as a key to success

Alongside academic achievement, the new Director of Studies placed strong emphasis on discipline. She reminded learners that academic success should be accompanied by responsible behaviour, respect for school rules and proper use of time.

She encouraged learners to understand that discipline is not only about following instructions, but also about developing the self-control needed to remain focused on one’s goals. The learners were therefore encouraged to maintain discipline in class, in the hostels and across the wider school environment.

As Kitebi Secondary School begins the new term, the school leadership continues to encourage every learner to take responsibility for their academic journey and strive towards becoming an achiever   .
