Kitebi Secondary School receives Scania bus following Presidential Pledge

The acquisition of a Scania school bus remains one of the key milestones in the growth of Kitebi Secondary School, significantly improving transport for learners and supporting the school’s academic and co-curricular programmes.

The journey began on 19 April 2024, when H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni visited Kitebi Secondary School. During the visit, the Team Leader and Head Teacher, Hajj Muhammed Kamulegeya, presented several priorities aimed at improving the school. Among the issues he highlighted was the urgent need for a school bus to ease transportation challenges faced by the school’s growing learner population and to support participation in educational tours, sports competitions, and other learning activities.

Upon this background, the President pledged to provide the school with a bus, a commitment that was later fulfilled by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni.

During the commissioning of Grameen Hospital, which was hosted at Kitebi Secondary School, Maama Janet officially handed over the keys of a new Scania school bus to Hajj Muhammed Kamulegeya on behalf of the President.

Speaking during the event, Maama Janet Museveni encouraged Ugandans, particularly women, to embrace a culture of saving as a way of improving household livelihoods, supporting their children’s education, and achieving financial independence. She also appreciated the warm welcome accorded to her by the learners and staff of Kitebi Secondary School, who enthusiastically received her despite the heavy rain.

On the other hand, Hajj Kamulegeya, expressed gratitude to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for fulfilling his pledge and for his continued support towards the development of Kitebi Secondary School. He also thanked Maama Janet Museveni for officially handing over the bus, noting that it would greatly improve transportation for learners and strengthen the school’s participation in academic, sports, and other co-curricular activities.

Hajj Kamulegeya further appreciated the Government’s continued investment in education and hence citated the recognition of Kitebi Secondary School in the President’s 2026 Manifesto as a national model school. He reaffirmed the school’s commitment to making the best use of the support received in its mission to provide quality, holistic education.

The Scania bus has since become an important asset to the school, facilitating the transportation of learners to educational programmes, competitions, and other activities while contributing to the continued growth and development of Kitebi Secondary School.
