Kitebi Secondary School holds dedication prayers for 2026 UNEB candidates

Faith, unity and purpose mark the school’s spiritual send-off for 2026 candidates

On Wednesday 07th October, 2026, Kitebi Secondary School held dedication prayers for the candidates of the year 2026. This spiritual moment brought together learners, staff, parents and members of the school community emphasising faith, unity and encouragement as the candidates prepare for their final examinations.

Just like many believers do when in need of God’s providence, guidance and blessings, the candidates gathered to dedicate their examinations and future to God, seeking his devine guidance, protection and strength as they prepared for this important stage of their academic journey.

Dedication thus refers to offering oneself, one’s plans and future to God in the journey ahead. For the candidates, it is a time to surrender worries, renew hope and ask for the grace to perform well, both academically and morally.

The prayers served as a reminder to candidates that they are not alone in this journey, but also a way of reaffirming the values of discipline, hard work and faith that have guided them throughout their school life.

A school that embraces everyone’s faith

Over the years, Kitebi Secondary School has continued to uphold secularism, a long-standing tradition of respecting and supporting the spiritual needs of all its members. Due to the diversity of its people, the school allows everyone to practise their faith in their own denomination, recognising that faith is a personal journey and a source of strength for many.

“Our diversity is our strength. At Kitebi, we believe that every learner and staff member should feel free to worship and express their faith,” the school administration has often said. This inclusive approach not only fosters harmony but also builds a sense of belonging within the school community.

As such, the dedication prayers were organised in different sessions to accommodate the various faiths represented at the school, ensuring that everyone could participate and seek God in their own way.

The prayer sessions

The day began with the Muslim prayers which were led by the Supreme Mufti, Sheikh. Muhammad Shaban Galabuzi, who guided the candidates in supplication and reminded them of the importance of faith, honesty, discipline and perseverance.

The Anglicans followed, led by Rev. Elijah Kyobe and the school chaplain, Rev. Fred Nkata, who offered prayers for wisdom, focus and success as per the different abilities everyone was given by God. The Born-Again and Adventist prayers followed suit in the same hours with their leaders encouraging the candidates to remain steadfast in their faith and trust in God’s plan.

The final session which was held at 10:00am within the school Sports field brought the entire school community together for a united prayer service led by the Catholics, who were also the organisers, with the main celebrant being Rev. Fr. Francis Ssemuddu, the Parish Priest of Bunamwaya Catholic Parish Church.

The dedication prayers

The Catholic service, which was the highlight of the day, featured a sermon by the Reverend, special prayers for the candidates, and intercessions for their families, teachers and the entire school community.

The programme also included speeches, performances and the recognition of class representatives and outstanding staff by the Members of the Board of Governors of the school.

A special blessing was also offered for Adv. Haj Kamulegeya Muhammed, the Team Leader, in recognition of his seven years of dedicated service at Kitebi SS.

The dedication prayers ended with a vote of thanks from the school administration, which appreciated all the religious leaders, staff and students for making the event a success.

As the candidates head into their final stretch, the school reiterated its commitment to supporting them, not just academically but also spiritually and emotionally.

“We are confident that with God’s guidance, hard work and the support of our school community, our candidates will excel,” Ms Sawuyah Nalinya, a S.4 class teacher emphasised.
