Kitebi SS Anglican Community holds leadership handover ceremony

On Sunday, October 25, 2026, the Anglican Community of Kitebi Secondary School held a handover ceremony to recognise outgoing leaders for their service and dedication to the spiritual growth and development of the community, while welcoming the incoming leadership.

The ceremony brought together members to reflect on their contribution to the spiritual life of the school, appreciate those who have served in different leadership capacities and encourage the incoming team to sustain the community’s activities.

Fellowship and recognition of outgoing leaders

The ceremony began with a prayer session which was led by one of the outgoing leaders, followed by a time of fellowship, praise and worship, as well as speeches.

Members also presented worship songs, adding to the spiritual atmosphere of the occasion and bringing the community together in celebration.

The event was also graced with the presence of Ms Grace Nyakato and Mr Robert Mpande, who represented the school staff and presided over the awarding session, during which outgoing leaders were recognised for their commitment and service to the Anglican Community.

The members of the community who were recognised included Ushers, Mobilisers representing boys and girls at the different levels, the Treasurer, the Church Advisor and Assistant Advisor, the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson, the Head of Mission, and the Evangelist.

The recognition highlighted the different responsibilities undertaken by the outgoing leaders in supporting the community’s activities and sustaining its spiritual life.

Their contributions ranged from coordinating activities and welcoming members to supporting prayer sessions and mobilising fellow students, demonstrating the importance of teamwork and service in the running of a school-based religious community.

Addressing the students, Ms Nyakato pledged to continue supporting the Anglican Community by attending its Sunday services and praying with the members. Her commitment underscored the importance of continued spiritual guidance and staff involvement in nurturing the community.

On the other hand, Mr Mpande commended the unity fostered by the school’s Team Leader, Adv. Haj. Kamulegeya Muhammed, in supporting members of different religious denominations to practise their faith. He encouraged the students to maintain their commitment to the community by attending prayer sessions regularly and punctually.

He further urged them to participate in other school activities, emphasising the importance of balancing their religious commitments with active involvement in the wider school community.

Welcoming new leadership

The ceremony also marked a transition in leadership, as the outgoing team made way for the incoming leaders to take up their responsibilities.

The community welcomed its incoming leaders, with Ms Namara taking over as Chairperson.

This transition marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Anglican Community, with the incoming team expected to build on the work of its predecessors and continue supporting the spiritual development of its members.

The handover also underscored the importance of continuity in student leadership, ensuring that the experience and commitment of outgoing leaders can provide a foundation for those taking over.

As the new team assumes its responsibilities, unity, regular participation in prayers and cooperation among members remain important to sustaining the community’s activities.

Prayers for candidates and celebration

As the school continues to conduct the ongoing Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) examinations, Mr Mpande acknowledged the Anglican Community’s continued support and encouraged its members to join in praying for the candidates as they undertake their examinations.

He emphasised the importance of spiritual support in seeking God’s guidance, wisdom, strength and protection for the learners during this critical period.

Following the formal proceedings, the ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting session and networking, providing an opportunity for members to interact, celebrate the leadership transition and strengthen relationships within the community.

The gathering brought together appreciation for the outgoing leaders and a warm welcome to the incoming team, reaffirming the Anglican Community’s commitment to prayer, unity and service at Kitebi Secondary School.
